League 1 Ontario 2022 All Star Cloey Uddenberg had the following to say regarding re-singing with the Simcoe County Rovers.

“I am super excited to return to Simcoe Rovers FC for the 2023 season. The team atmosphere and drive in everyone involved to win a championship is something I am super happy to be a part of again. Our inaugural season was a success because of our strong core from players, coaches, managers, and owners. But we are not satisfied yet. We are heading into the 2023 season with the goal to win a championship. I believe building off our successful season last year with new additions this year is setting us up for success. I cannot wait to start the season off in April and until then we will be preparing both on and off the field. Alongside our goal to win a championship, our relationship with the community, supporters’ group, and fans is just as important this year. Let’s go Rovers!”

Newly appointed Head Coach Dave Kelly is happy to have secured the signatures of the core group of players from last year and is looking forward to building off fantastic inaugural season and foundations laid by these young women.

“It’s an exciting time for the team. The players returning played a significant contribution to the success of the group last season, by reaching the play off in their first season together was a fantastic achievement by all involved. When you look at the numbers, the minutes and goals, assists or clean sheets these players contributed to, having this continuity to build off, a group of players who are both young and experienced, some of whom are international players makes it a group to be very excited about.

"In our first meeting, the players have set the culture, driven by their personal values and that of the club and Simcoe County. So, we know going into the open tryouts, we can be clear with the group, who we are, what we are trying to do and communicate exactly the type of personalities and players we are looking for; to make this group even stronger. As we look towards the beginning of the season in April, the ambition is to go further than last season it. We know the road ahead won’t be an easy one, we are competing with some of the best players in the country, who are coached by some of the top coaches in this country too. However, this is why we want to represent this club and this region. We want to bring all of this
to the local area along with it some success and some silverware too.”

Team captain Cooper Lee is also excited to be returning to the Rovers in 2023 and is looking forward to re-uniting with her teammates from last season and continue chasing trophies with the Rovers.

“Last year was the Rovers inaugural season and as a new team, we were learning each other’s style of play, strengths, and weaknesses. We competed well and were successful because of the depth of talent on the team. I am really excited for the 2023 season. With the core group of
players returning, the team will be more connected, cohesive, and competitive. We have our sights set on topping the table and taking home the championship”

Rovers defender Abby Wroe echoed her teammates & coaches ambitions and will continue to be a major force in the Rovers back line in 2023.

“I am very excited to be returning with the Simcoe County Rovers for the 2023 season. We had a lot of success and many accomplishments from our inaugural year that we will continue to build off of going forward. Our team has been setting goals for the upcoming year, with an end target of winning a championship. The season starts in April, we are all looking forward to the amazing support from our fans again! “

The Simcoe County Rovers Women will kick off the 2023 season in April and will continue to play their home matches out of J.C Massie Field at Georgian College, Barrie.
