Last Home Doubleheader of Season Promises to be Biggest One Yet for Rovers

BARRIE - The inaugural season for the Simcoe County Rovers has been quite a success on both the men’s and women’s sides.

And now, amazingly enough, they are ready for their last home doubleheader of the season – this Saturday at Georgian College, where fans will have the chance to win over $1,000 in door raffle prizes presented by Tourism Barrie.

The women (9-2-5) will kick things off at 4 pm against 1-12-3 ProStars FC.

It is a massive game for the ladies, who currently sit fifth place in the League1 standings, five points ahead of North Toronto Nitros for the last playoff spot in the league and three points behind the Woodbridge Strikers for the fourth seed.

It will be the Lady Rovers first home game since June 26th, who, in that timespan, have gone undefeated after a 2-2 draw against St. Catharines on Canada Day and a 1-0 win in Guelph on Sunday.

Following the women’s game, the men (9-2-3) will host 6-7-1 Scrosoppi FC at 7 pm.

The men, if they draw or beat Guelph United on the road on Wednesday, will come into the match on a seven-game unbeaten streak, which has allowed them to surge to third place in the League1 standings, just three points behind Vaughan Azzurri and North Toronto Nitros for first place.

They have 13 points in their last five games and ride a three-game unbeaten streak at home.

We encourage everyone to attend both games if they are able, with Rock95 and SoccerWorld Soccer Arena on-site throughout the day and pictures and autograph sessions taking place following each match.

With that being said, if you are unable to attend the matches, Rogers TV will be airing the women’s game on tape delay before broadcasting the men’s match live.

*We strongly encourage everyone to buy tickets ahead of time and to arrive early to secure a seat, as we are expecting our largest crowd of the season to date.
